SIMEM MSO Twin Shaft Mixers are available in a wide range of models, from 1 to 9 cubic meters compacted output; suitable to mix any type of concrete, to wet to zero slump, with aggregates up to 200 mm in diameter.
Each model is available in a wide range of varieties to suit every customer’s requirement. In addition to the standard HL version, the following versions are also available:
• TWIX: dual discharge gate;
• DAM: version for use with larger aggregate.
SIMEM MSO Twin Shaft Mixers are designed to ensure reliability and reduced service and maintenance costs.

The SIMEM MSO Twin Shaft Mixer’s mixing tank is completely protected with special anti-wear liners. The mixing action is performed by cast iron paddles, which are hydro dynamically designed to reduce wear and provide optimized mixing results. All paddles are bolted onto the mixing arms which are in turn bolted onto the mixing shaft for easier service and maintenance. The special design of the mixing arms allows them to be installed in different configurations depending on the aggregate size. When producing concrete with small size aggregate the 45 degree configuration gives the best mixing result. For standard applications the 90 degree configuration is preferred. For use with larger sized aggregate, the 180 degree configuration is utilized.
With its ability to handle 0” to high slump mix designs and optional configurations up to 180 mm aggregate, the twin synchronized shafts of the SIMEM Twin-Shaft Mixers forces a shear in the mix which:
• Allows for every particle of sand and aggregate to be coated with cement;
• Gives the most homogeneous mix possible in as little as 20 seconds for wet batch and 60 seconds for low slump;
• Owners benefit from being able to provide a better quality product, in a shorter period of time, which results in increased production and profits.


All MSO mixers are equipped with automatically greased labyrinth seals on the mixer shafts. The automatic grease system consists of a grease pump that gives a pressure of up to 200 bar, a line strainer and a divider block to make sure the correct amount of grease is pumped to each of the four seals.
Concrete seals are installed on the mixing shafts and connected to the main automatic greasing unit. All four shaft seals are continuously greased by the self-lubricating system, which comes standard on all models. The self-lubricating system provides a positive flow of grease to the seals ensuring that grout does not pass into the seals. The grease pump on the self-lubricating system is mechanically driven by the mixing shafts. The grease tank has a capacity of four Kg., and includes a limit-switch level indicator.


The Mixer Mind electronic check system is a complete surveillance unit designed to monitor temperatures and power consumption. In addition, it ensures that the automatic greasing system is working correctly. In the case of abnormalities, it provides alarms which serve to avoid damage to the mixer and its components.
The Mixer Mind also provides useful service reminders.


The mixers discharge gate is driven by a hydraulic cylinder connected to a hydraulic power unit. The hydraulic power unit is electrically driven and includes a 20 liter aluminium oil tank with level and temperature gauges, as well as a hand pump for emergency discharge in the case of power loss. The discharge gate is equipped with 3 inductive limit switches for perfect control of the flow rate and is protected with interchangeable special steel wear liners.


To reduce operating costs and time, SIMEM offers a high pressure wash down system. This system consists of two special rotating tubes running the full length of each side of the mixer, equipped with special nozzles divided into two or four washing zones. Water is fed via a triplex high pressure pump delivering 60 lt. of water per minute at 200 bar. The automatic wash down system can be started at the end of every shift for a complete washout of the mixer. Alternatively, where concrete
production is intermittent, a rinse can be provided between productions. A high pressure wand is also included for final cleanout through the inspection doors.


Simem Twin-Shaft Mixers are not only designed for maximum productivity, but also for long term reliability of service. Driven by electric motors, the twin stage planetary gear boxes, rated at 94% efficiency, are connected to the main shafts with articulated joints, which virtually eliminates the transmission of any possible force from the mixing shafts to the reducer output shafts. Bearings for the mixing shafts are installed on separate flanges and isolated from the concrete seals, protecting the bearings in case of seal failure. Models from 4500 to 14000 are equipped with an oil cooling system for the main gearboxes as an extra protection.


The MSO twin shaft mixers from the HL1500 to HL6000 are available with an aggregate loading skip. The skip has been designed with a foldable discharge gate which allows for a very fast flow of the materials into the mixing tank, through a dust suppressing inlet panel. The skip is driven by an independent electric gear motor with an epicyclical gearbox, integrated on the top of the skip rails.
